MUSIC MORNING: PVT

By our guest writer Peter, who is browsing trough the pile of music-junk and always finds the jewels especially for you!
Again I found a band of which I would like to inform you about. And again I am thrilled! Till now I was positive about al the bands I wrote about for PAMMM!, so I thought that it would be time for a critical article; let’ s burn this band down... But ‘unfortunately' this is not the right time to be negative; after my critical search for some negative tones I end up with nothing then positive ones! Again.

MUSIC MORNING: ARCADE FIRE

By our guest writer Peter, who is browsing trough the pile of music-junk and always finds the jewels especially for you!

Perhaps you already know the band you are going to read about right now. If so, I am sorry for the waste of your time. If not, you will be happy to get to know ‘Arcade Fire’, especially their new album “The Suburbs”.

MUSIC MORNING: DYLAN IN THE MOVIES

Guest writer Peter A friend of mine came to visit me last night. He was excited and happy. “Peter, you have to listen to this! I am so excited ‘bout them! He ranto my computer and inserted a disc. Fresh new sounds, which I have never heard before, flew into my ears. My curiosity was piqued. “Who are they?” I screamed out loud, because the volume was set to 10. “Dylan in the movies!” he shouted back to me. Dylan in the movies?! Immediately I jumped behind my computer to find out more about this band who pleased my ears so pleasurable.

MUSIC MORNING: FERGUS & GERONIMO

From our guest writer Peter. This morning my ears, as well as my eyes, got opened. The first drops of water from my shower were accompanied by a new song. I immediately forgot the rain; the summer came back. The fast guitar riffs and the nice up tempo, pulls you into a wicked rhythm. It feels like drinking a red bull without the teeth killing sweetness. Or surfing on a big wave in the Pacific Ocean. Get ready for a refreshing splash into the waters of Fergus and Geronimo.

MUSIC MORNING: FANG ISLAND

Brooklyn's Fang Island describe their aesthetic as "everyone high-fiving everyone." So it's appropriate that the band's website features a video of them jamming out with kindergartners. 'Fun' isn't just a word for them, it's embedded in the band's musical DNA.

MUSIC MORNING: THE SMILES

This album is for those of you that are on the lookout for driving-, hanging in the park-, putting a way too tight surf suit on and getting ready to surf -music. The six-song Hermosa EP represents a major step forward for the young Southern California-based band The Smiles. The song titles and album cover point to sun, the beach, summer, and a good time.

MUSIC MORNING: MORNING TELEPORTATION

Posted by guest writer Carly Black
Ever heard of a little band called Morning Teleportation? No? Well you should have. Why? Because they're quickly emerging onto the indie rock scene, having just wrapped up a US tour with everyone's favorite, lo-fi indie, rock outfit, Modest Mouse and before that, served as supporting act to new fan favorite Cage The Elephant.

MUSIC MORNING: THE POWDER KEGS

The Powder Kegs are a pop trio from Philadelphia via NYC, featuring Dan Maroti on vocals, guitar, and keyboard, Ryan Dieringer on vocals and bass, and Sam McDougle on drums. Their rootsy pop rock & roll bends genres, and calls to mind personalities like Beck, Elvis Costello or Paul Simon. They're take on indie-pop is eclectic, but grounded by a distinct folk bent.

MUSIC MORNING: CHALK TALK

This is what they call a DIY band: Chalk Talk. And they're good at it: within months of forming, the band recorded a six-song demo 'Killing Spree', threw together a dozen copies on their own and hit the road for a week-long Northeast tour. They're now in the midst of a self-booked, month-long tour, taking them across the Eastern half of the United States in support of their latest release The Food Chain.

MUSIC MORNING: GHOST PANTS

This album has been made by one person, that we know nothing about, and is possibly sitting in a flat somewhere in Glasgow with a lampshade on his head and a wry smile on his face. There is NO information about this guy, only the band name: Ghost Pants, and that he's a single Glaswegian with a taste for lo-fi indie-pop and a tendency to wear household objects on his head.

MUSIC MORNING: BLACKBIRD BLACKBIRD

Formerly known as Bye Bye Blackbird, Blackbird Blackbird continues to swiftly produce dreamy, psychedelic, & hypnogogic pop music in the vein of chillwave contemporaries Washed Out & Toro Y Moi. Let yourself walk into a dreamy landscape of sound that is as hypnotic as it is catchy, as upbeat as it is ambient. Really a PAMMM! favourite already.

MUSIC MORNING: WE SWIM YOU JUMP

We're a bit in a nationalistic vibe (our footbal team from Holland just went crazy in Amsterdam, like they had won the WC. They only won the harts of the fans I think...), because here's another band from the lowlands: We Swim You Jump. Yes, a weird name, but such good music. And from Groningen! It's freaking catchy, and deserves to be listen to. So, listen.

MUSIC MORNING: BIRD ON THE WIRE

Yeah, Amsterdam has talent! In the shape of the band Bird on the Wire: two girls and a guy that make pretty music that make you travel a little bit back in time. Think Bob Dylan mixed with a touch of Belle and Sebastian and folkband Beirut.

11.7.10

MUSIC MORNING: MEMORYHOUSE

With the kind of weather that's been in the Netherlands lately, we need some music to chill on. Music to eat BBQ chicken wings and burning on your balcony getting that nice, red, colour on your skin. This band, Memoryhouse, succesfully combine ambient soundscapes with Denise Nouvion's crystal-clear melodic vocals and have released a couple of great tracks in the past couple of months.

8.7.10

MUSIC MORNING: SLOW ANIMAL

New 60's surfish Slow Animal tune that will appear on the B-side of the to be released 7" theFUNsun. When the Netherlands win this sunday (afcourse!), just play this music, drink beer, wear orange, and everything will be allright.

MUSIC MORNING: LAKE RADIO

A little vague and still unknown is LAKE R▲DIO. But I think it's worth the listen: eerie tunes, which will probably fall under the header of 'Witch House'.

MUSIC MORNING: CLOUD CULT

This is a song (and album) that make you're ears drool. Full of energy, and who's saying that you can only bop your head to hiphop?! I bopped it. Definitely. Listen!

MUSIC MORNING: OU EST LE SWIMMING POOL

This band name is so on the spot: when you're listening to their music, the first thing you ask: ou es le swimming pool?! Gimme a swimming pool! Enjoy!

MUSIC MORNING: CROCODILES

We haven’t heard from BTW Crocodiles since their Christmas-themed 7-inch with Dum Dum Girls. Turns out they spend the first half of 2010 prepping a followup to last year’s Summer Of Hate.
